   It is with deep sadness the we announce the passing of Benny on March 25,2013. Benny was born June 7, 1942 in Dunrea Manitoba to Gilberte (nee Légaré) and Joseph Souyri. He lived in Dunrea until moving to Winnipeg to start work after graduation and he treasured the memories of the wonderful childhood he had being raised in a small rural town. It was in this vibrant and supportive community Benny forged amazing friendships that sustained him until his final days.


Benny had an entrepreneurial spirit and during his life had a number of diverse careers but it was his love of and skill in the culinary field where he excelled. Benny worked as a chef on the DEW line for 25 years and his family and friends benefited from countless parties and events he hosted. His joie de vivre, generosity and hospitality are legendary.


Benny was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, a trustee of the DEW Line Trust and throughout his life volunteered and supported many worthy charities and causes.


Benny is survived by his long time fiancé Glynis (Black), his devoted sister Jo-Anne Souyri,  sister Joyce (Tervoort) and brother in law Frank, nephew Bruce (Debbie) and their children Meghan Derek and Brittany,  nephew Douglas and nephew Randy and his daughters Cee Jay & Nicole.  He is also survived by several aunts and numerous cousins across Canada and in France.  He was predeceased by his parents Gilberte (Jill) and Joe Souyri and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 


Active pallbearers will be Bruce Tervoort, Marcel Boulet, Edouard Boulet, George Légaré, Paul Carney and Daniel Boulet.  Honorary pallbearers will be Laurent Bisson, Peter Carney, Paul R. Boulet, Gerry Rochon, Douglas Tervoort, Randy Tervoort, Ammanuel (Manny) Barnabas and Vladimir Pekulas.


Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday April 1st at 12:00 noon at St

Felix de Valois Roman Catholic Church in Dunrea MB with Father Barry Schoonbaert  officiating.  Viewing will take place one hour prior to Mass.  The internment of ashes to follow at a later date.

Benny you were the sunshine of our lives, and the wind beneath our wings.  We will love you and miss you forever.   Your two favourite girls, Glynis and Jo-Anne.
