Arnold Keith Deacon
May 19th, 1946 – January 21st, 2020
On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, Arnold Keith Deacon passed away at age 73 at the Boissevain Health Centre.  Arnold was born on May 19th, 1946 at Nurse Halliday’s nursing home in Boissevain to Claburne and Rose Deacon. He is survived by his wife Helen, his children Gavin (Chantal) and Holly (Craig), his brothers Stewart and Murray and wife Darlene, his sister Cheryl, grandchildren Kayleigh and Skyler, and several nephews and their families. Arnold was predeceased by his parents and his sister in law Gail. He grew up on the family's farms north and south of Ninga and attended school in Ninga.
As a young man he spent a winter working in Winnipeg at a Shell Service station but returned home to farm full time with his parents. In 1972 he tried his hand in maintenance at the Brandon Mental Hospital and years later at our local hospital in Boissevain. During the 90's he obtained his Class 1 license and spent a couple of winters semi truck driving. He never had a problem getting a job when he felt he needed one!
On July 1, 1972 he married Helen Brake. Their son Gavin was born that same year. They worked the family farm and in 1975 Arnold joined his father-in-law Harold Brake beekeeping full time. In 1977 their daughter Holly was born. Arnold kept working with bees the rest of his life until his health began to fail.
Arnold was a shy man, gentle and thoughtful. On the other hand there was a little mischief in those blue eyes! He was also fond of entertaining, fast cars and a lively party! He  always had time for his family, enjoying watching them participate in sports and their chosen activities and interests. This continued when the grandchildren came along!
 Arnold and Helen bred and showed Arabian horses. Arnold liked trail riding and made many life long friends through the horse business.
He enjoyed curling for many years in Ninga and later with the Boissevain afternoon seniors curling. Arnold loved country music and he and Helen attended many dances and events with local dancers. They travelled to visit different regions of the world and savoured spending time with family and friends.
 Arnold played an active role in the community, serving as a director for the local Co-op and the Turtle Mountain Agriculture Society as well as the Manitoba Arabian Horse Association. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbours.
To his family he will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, Father, and Grandfather.
The Funeral service was held on the 27th of February at St. Paul's United Church. Interment in the Ninga Cemetary. Minister Michael Canning officiated.

Dr. Nell, the nurses, the medical clinic and lab staff were wonderful. Thank you to Missy and Paul and staff of the Wheatland Funeral Service for their empathy and capable handling of the arrangements, Our gratitude to Minister Michael Canning for officiating and Betty Rempel playing the organ. Thank-you to Alma and Cindy and the Ninga crew for providing a delicious luncheon.  We wish to express our gratitude to everyone for the many thoughtful words, charitable donations, cards, flowers and support given to our family. It has been overwhelming!
