Larry Blaine Henderson
August 16, 1946 - June 18, 2019
Peacefully on June 18, 2019 Larry Blaine Henderson passed away at Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City, Manitoba with his family by his side.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Marilyn, his son Blaine, his daughter Amy (Justin), and his grandson Darrian.
His surviving family is a brother Bill (Patricia), sisters Sherrie (Ken), Laurel (Mark), and sister in laws Linda (Arthur), Patty and Tracy (Kel) and many nephews, nieces & extended family members.
Larry was predeceased by his parents George & Joyce, sister Louise, and brother in law Randy Holland.
Larry was born in Swan Lake, Manitoba on August 16, 1946, first born son of George & Joyce Henderson (nee Popplestone), residing on the family farm in the Pembina District, north of Pilot Mound until his marriage to Marilyn Susan Trembath on October 30, 1970. We lived in Pilot Mound until his passing shortly before our 49 th wedding anniversary.
Larry loved growing up on the farm and gained invaluable skills that would serve him a lifetime. His education started in the Pembina Country School, making lifelong school friends.
As a young man his first jobs were at Hamley’s Mill and Bucks Garage in Swan Lake, Manitoba. Then came a gravel truck, Collins Transfer, Pilot Mound and then more mechanic work. Working for Marlatt’s Pet foods Animal Removal and later as a milk truck driver, he learned every back road and shortcuts for miles around and all the people within.
In the early 70’s and 80’s, he was employed at Mancos Dairies Cheeseplant in Pilot Mound. There he was in charge of the boiler, all maintenance, shipper/receiver, milk truck driver, truck washer ect. Like a farm boy, 9-5 did not exist, you worked until everything was done.
In 1984 Larry started a 25 year career with Rock Lake Health District in Crystal City. He became Support Services Coordinator, head of maintenance and responsible for the care of the two facilities. Part of his duties were to be on ambulance as a EMT first responder and volunteer and even the ambulance coordinator for a time. He would remain on the service having over 2500 trips in the span of 19 years. His duties were a 24/7 responsibility and he was very dedicated and appreciated by his co workers. Larry was the “Jack-of-all-traders”, a “people person”, a “helping hand” whenever needed. He was a proud and encouraging dad and a loving protector. He loved all music and all through his life he enjoyed playing the fiddle with a great variety of friends. He will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him as a colourful storyteller.
He will be forever loved and missed.
We hold him in our hearts forever.
