On October 30th, surrounded by her family, Shirley Grace Cousins (nee Sedgwick) passed away unexpectedly at Boundary Trails Health Centre.
Shirley was born October 28th, 1932 the eldest daughter of Albert and Reta Sedgwick of Melville, Saskatchewan.  After completing her education in Saskatchewan she was accepted into the nursing program at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. She nursed after graduation at Manitou Hospital.
Her friendship with Phyllis Weeks (Walker) also a student nurse brought her to the McKenzie area on their time off and here she met Dad, Irwin Cousins.  They were married April 2, 1955, and lived and farmed in the McKenzie district until their eventual move to LaRiviere and later Manitou.
Lean years on the farm made for a resourceful Shirley.  She always had a large garden, sewed most of the clothes for herself and children, baked bread, and could even make a great full course meal from bologna.  She was talented at knitting, sewing, quilting and most needlework, belonged to the McKenzie Ladies Aid, taught 4-H and was very active in the United Church and loved singing in the choir.  
She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Reta Sedgwick, her husband Irwin Cousins, brothers Wilbert and Donald and Sister Ruth Woodley and son-in-law Sam Vodden.
She leaves to mourn her loss four children: Diana Vodden, Nolan (Amy), Richelle and Rylee, Brendon (Chelsea) Kaiden and Kinlee;  Deryl Cousins (Tracey), Ryan (Neta), Bailey and Brooke, Christy;  Joyda Riediger (Ken), Launi, Jamie (Trevor); Loretta Mutcheson (Jim), Alex, Aaron (Jocelyne), Abbey Kochka (Mitch), Chesney; sister Joyce McKersie (Ken), and numerous nieces and nephews.
