Thomas Edward McLean February 5 1948 - December 24 2018
 
Thomas Edward McLean was born Feb 5, 1948 in the Municipality of North Cypress, MB.  He was raised in Camp Shilo before moving to Winnipeg to complete degrees in both geology and meteorology.
 
Tom began his Environment Canada career in Regina on Feb. 7, 1980 and then worked as a weather radar technician in Broadview from 1982 until the station was automated in 1994.  He then worked for a few years for Inland Waters branch until he turned 50.  EC downsizing allowed him to take an early retirement package and his last day with EC was Feb 5, 1998.
 
His children, Rebecca and Sean remember visiting their dad at the weather station at Broadview, SK watching him launch helium filled balloons for measuring the cloud height as well as the wind speed and direction aloft.  There might have been some Donald Duck impressions!
 
He then worked for many years in the high Arctic as a contract weather observer in Hall Beach and Eureka until he moved to Pleasant Valley and then to his home in Ninette, MB.  During his retirement Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 
 
Tom was a very dedicated employee, a very intelligent man and an avid reader.
 
Tom was predeceased by his parents Roy and Ruth and brother Michael.  Tom is survived by his daughter Rebecca and husband Will, children Nick, Ava and Jeremy; son Sean and wife Bev, children Brenden, Sam, Haven and Nevin, brothers Jim, Rick and wife Janice, and sister Donna and husband David as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
 
A memorial service was held at the Ninette cemetery on May 25, 2019.
