(NEE HUTLER)
September 9, 1935 – September 11, 2025

Peacefully, with family by her side, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother,
Audrey Morrow, aged 90, on Thursday, September 11th , 2025, at Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot
Mound, Manitoba. Left to remember a life well lived are daughters Connie, Susan (Wil Wieler), Kate (Fraser
Redpath) and son James. Mom said just earlier this summer that “the four joys in my life have ever been my
children.” We know she felt the same about her grandchildren Corey & Misty Redpath, Robyn & Kevin Plett,
Paul Wieler and Daniel & Jessie Wieler; and her great grandchildren, Maddy, Banner & Brooklyn Redpath.
Also left to mourn her passing are many much-loved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins on both
sides of the Atlantic. Audrey was predeceased by her parents William & Ruth Hutler, sister Muriel, brother
William Jr (Billie), mother-in-law Nett Morrow and husband Garth Robert Matthew Morrow.

Audrey was born in South Shields, England on September 9th , 1935. Her father, Billie Sr, was a ship’s
plumber on the Tyne docks while her mother, Deborah Ruth, managed Hanlon’s Grocery. She had fond
memories of her Grandma Hodgson who came to live with them upon the passing of her grandfather. Family
pets Punch (dog), Judy (cat) and Morgan (talking parrot) rounded out the happy household. While her
mother and father remained in South Shields to work and support the war effort, Audrey was evacuated to
the Lake District during World War II. Audrey loved life on the farm there, feeding the chickens and calves,
working in the dairy and churning butter. Lifelong friends were made during these years. After finishing
school, Audrey worked as a cashier at the Fifty Shilling Tailor, was a successful saleswoman at Greenwoods
Men’s Shop and loved collecting rent for SR & RL Phin Real Estate before starting her nurse’s training at
South Shields General Hospital in 1954. After completing her RN training, Audrey went on to Midwifery
training first in Withington Hospital in Manchester and finally in Devizes, Wiltshire. Again, lifelong friends
were made. Audrey came to Canada in 1959 to nurse in Crystal City, Manitoba for what was supposed to be
a six-month term before continuing to Venezuela for another six-month placement. She never made it,
marrying Garth in December 1960. Over the next thirty years, Audrey nursed in Crystal City, Pilot Mound,
Swan Lake and Baldur hospitals before retiring in 1990.

Besides her family and work as a nurse, Audrey loved her new home and community, so it was a proud
moment for her when she received her Canadian citizenship in 1975. Audrey was a 4H leader, a long-time
member of the Woodbay ladies’ Tri-Club, a councillor for the Manitoba Nurses’ Union and, after retiring, a
two-term councillor for the R.M. of Louise. Audrey was an avid traveller and enjoyed housekeeping, baking,
gardening, berry picking and visiting and entertaining friends and family. In her golden years, she loved The
Price is Right and British crime dramas! Mom said she tried to live a good and honourable life and hoped
her children would do the same. We will do our utmost to make you proud, Mom.

A private graveside service for family will be held at Woodbay Cemetery on Saturday, September
20th followed by an open house memorial tea at the Fellowship Centre in Pilot Mound 2:30-4:00pm. Connie,
Susan, Kate & James would like to thank all the staff at Rock Lake Personal Care Home (RLPCH) for the
love and friendship shown to our mother during her time in your care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to either the RLPCH or the Pilot Mound Foundation.
