William (Bill) Charles Dixon was born on July 12, 1944, in Brandon Manitoba. Bill was the third
child of Earl and Lillian Dixon. He attended Rowland and Killarney schools until 1962, when he
quit high school to move back to the family farm NW of Killarney to help his dad farm. He worked
for Plain Western Gas in the winters, before taking an adventure with George Foote to Calgary,
Alberta, seeking winter employment.
In Calgary, he took a job with Randco Manufacturing, where he met one of the owners, Harold
Sullivan. Harold was the eldest brother of Dallis Janet Sullivan, who, after a short courtship,
became Bill’s wife. They married in Calgary on July 29, 1967, then moved to the Killarney area
and built their own family farm together on 16-4-17, where they raised their family. They
welcomed their first son, Travis Lane, in August 1972, then their daughters, Treena Rae in May
1975, and Heather Frances in August 1982, then their son Tyson Donald in September 1987.
Bill and Dallis purchased a business and property in Killarney from Roy Watson on November 1,
1979, and named it Dixon’s Farm Supply. In 1985, they moved their business to a bigger
property and building on Highway #18. They sold the farm, and moved their family into Killarney
in 1993. Bill continued to run the family business until the early 2000s, then became the Weed
Supervisor for Killarney and surrounding area until he retired. Bill had no formal training, but was
a natural mechanic and a jack-of-all-trades. He could fix anything, and enjoyed helping family
and friends out as well.
Bill enjoyed playing hockey, including coaching minor hockey, and playing with the Minto
Mustangs and Ninga house league. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, camping, traveling, and
spending time with his friends and family. In the 1970s he earned his private pilot’s license, and
enjoyed flying around the area and taking his kids for rides. His greatest pride was watching his
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. He was very proud of each and every one
of them.
He met Julie Moore in 2010. and spent his last years with her, golfing, camping, fishing, and
traveling to the Canadian east coast, Alaska, the U.S., and B.C.
Bill is survived by his partner Julie Moore, and his children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren. Son Tyson (Meaghan), Isla and Emmy; daughter Heather (Chris) Grayson and
Torrin; daughter Treena, son Travis, grandson Lane (Amy, Malaki); and great-grandchildren
Landon, Reid and Connor. Along with brother Bryan (Laura), and many nieces and nephews.
Bill is predeceased by his father Benjamin Earl, his mother Lillian Pearl, brother George, sister
Pearl, and his beloved wife, Dallis.
May you Rest in Peace Bill.
