.Dorothy Phyllis McCorquodale (Nee Patterson)1922 - 2021
Phyllis was born January 26, 1922, the third daughter of Parker & Nellie Patterson.  She received her education at Richview school & Boissevain High School.  Following school she graded eggs for the Manitoba Dairy & Poultry Co-op for five years in Boissevain & Cartwright Manitoba.  She married Don McCorquodale on November 6, 1943.  Two sons Malcolm Lorne, and Donald Glenn were born of this union.  Donald & Phyllis farmed in the Wassewa district for close to 50 years before retiring to Boissevain.  Phyllis was proud to be a farmer's  wife.  She enjoyed doing the chores such as feeding chickens, milking cows, gardening as well as feeding & baking for her family.  She belonged to the Wassewa Ladies Group and participated in all community events.  She served on the Boissevain Library Board., the Hospital Auxiliary and was active in the Beckoning Hills Activity Club after moving to town.  Music was a priority in her life. It was shared at numerous dances, lodges, concerts or wherever needed.  Phullis chorded on the piano for her father in a fiddlers contest at six years old.  Then at 90 years old composed an old time waltz and recorded it on a tape.  Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.  She was a member of the United Church and choir member in her younger days.  Phyllis tried to make something good in a bad situation.  She experienced a wide variety of circumstances during her lifetime including the dirty thirties,  the great depression, wartime, the polio epidemic, drought and most recently the covid pandemic.  Phyllis was predeceased by husband Don in August 2000, her mother & father, sisters Beth Scott, Luta Orriss, brother Jim Patterson, nieces Allison Urbanowski, Betty Anne Turner, nephew Gordon Patterson, sister in law Helen Patterson, brother in laws Bob Orriss, Doug Scott, Lorne McCorquodale, and mother and father in law Nelson & Clara.  Phyllis is survived by Mac & wife Lynda and children and grandchildren, Glenn & wife Lynne and their sons Jeff (Jackie), Tim (Melissa), Hugh (Shawna).  Great grandchildren Jade, Athena, Cambreon, Deanna, Dustin, Kacey, Austin, Owen.  Brother Ken Patterson (Darlene), sister in law Helen (McCorquodale) Hole (Barrie), and many nieces and nephews.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boissevain-Morton Library or boissevain Hospital Auxilary.
