Daniel Meaud Obituary

Daniel Joseph Meaud

It is with great sadness that the family of Dan Meaud announce his passing on June 14, 2021, at the age of 40.  Dan was born on January 18, 1981, in Wawanesa.  He grew up on the family farm at Dunrea.  Dan attended elementary school in Dunrea and later went on to graduate from Killarney School in 1999.  After graduation Dan moved to Alberta with friends to work on the oil rigs.  Dan and Tricia married in 2006.  They made many wonderful memories together over the course their 16 years together travelling, going to concerts and festivals, dining out and spending quiet evenings at home playing board games and spending time with their dog Willow.  Dan completed his Power Engineering diploma at NAIT and later worked for Esso.

Dan returned to Manitoba to farm in 2013.  Dan’s love of speciality coffee and wood fired pizza led him to open The Willow Branch.  Dan was passionate about the arts. He put his heart and soul into his woodcarvings and artwork.  He loved music and enjoyed playing the piano, guitar, and harmonica.  Dan loved playing a round of poker, cribbage and 31.  He played many hands of cards with his Mom throughout the years and in his final months.  Dan really enjoyed curling and loved to play pool with anyone who would join him.  Dan was able to do a lot of travelling throughout his life, going to places like Europe, Las Vegas, Thailand, New Zealand, and the Philippines.  He enjoyed camping, especially in Kananaskis, Alberta.

Dan cherished his family and friends very much.  He is lovingly remembered by his Mom Karen, special friend Ghie, brother Brian (Kara), sister Michelle (Matt), niece and nephews Layla, Ren, Nicholas, and Logan, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his canine companion Willow.  Dan was predeceased by his Dad Don in 2004.

Donations in Dan’s memory can be made to Artbeat Studio Winnipeg; www.artbeatstudio.ca, or to Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba; www.mooddisordersmanitoba.ca.
