Danny Blair Trapp
December 2, 1962 to June 19, 2025
It is with great shock and sadness that we share the passing of Dan.
Danny was born in Biggar Saskatchewan, the youngest child of Helen and Tessier Trapp. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Mel and Gary. He has left behind his loving wife Tracy, sisters Donna (Moe) and Susan, brothers David (Carol), Alvin (Sharon) and half-brothers Dan and Daryle Roberts. Sister in law Naomi, Brother in law Shawn (Darcy), numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1985 Dan moved to Manitoba to live with Donna and Moe and this is where he began his cooking career. He started working at Country Kitchen where he met Tracy. Tracy was looking for a roommate at that time, so he moved in with her. They were then married in November 1986.
Dan cooked at many restaurants and banquet facilities which led Tracy and Dan to move to Manitou to open their first restaurant, Trappers Restaurant and Lounge from 1995 to 1997. In 1996 with 2 other partners, they purchased the Manitou Motor Inn. At a later date they became sole owners. In 2009 they sold the hotel, and Dan joyfully became the manager of the Pilot Mound Golf course for the next 3 years. Upon leaving the golf course, he had various positions in the cooking industry which led him back to working with Tracy at TT's return.
Dan took on the privilege of managing the Manitou Golf Club in 2024. He always loved the Manitou Golf Club and was proud to help.
With Dan's recent illness he was experiencing pain but with his passion for golf he lathered himself up with A535 and took some Advil which aided him in having the best golf round of 2025 season on June 17th. A shout out to his golf buddies that were with him that day, Greg, Spence, Roger and Cliff.
As well as golf he had great love for other sports including the Winnipeg Jets, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Blue Jays and auto racing. In his younger years he participated in many of these sports. Music was a comfort to Dan and he spent many evenings watching music videos.
Dan had a great sense of humour. He enjoyed telling jokes and hitting everyone up with his one liners. He got so much joy from planning staff parties to thank and appreciate all those that worked for us.
Much to Tracy's displeasure, he was an early riser. He spent many early mornings driving around town keeping an eye on things. Making sure everything was on the norm.
Dan made numerous close dear friends and acquaintances in his adventures of life. I will be sure to keep his memory alive.
Dan.....please go try to see the NASCAR race you always wished you could see. Love you babe!
