It is with the greatest sadness we share Darcy James Chorney, 64, of Ninette, Manitoba passed away unexpectedly at his home with loved ones close by on Sunday, August 4th, 2024.
Born to John and Jean Chorney in Brandon, MB on August 24th, 1959. "The Best Day Ever!". "A real Holy Terror, but oh so sweet and lovable" as quoted by Jean in Darcy's baby book. Darcy had a huge love for Brandon and was a prairie boy who loved his community – an avid Brandon Sun fan who religiously read it daily. Many years were spent at their childhood cabin at Brandosa Beach, where he and his brothers and sisters spent tons of time fishing, biking, and "trying" not to get into trouble. He grew up with a love for motorcycles, cars, ski-doos and really anything that went fast.

Darcy at the age of 14 started his soon to be most cherished "family" job – "Perth's Services". He spent time with his father, John, working and doing what he could until he had his first route at the age of 16. Darcy lived and breathed Perth's for many years, up until the business sold in 2008. This is where he made some of his greatest companions and closest friends through his countless regular routes and his stationed office on Rosser Avenue. He loved sales because he loved people. He was a person who made you feel at home and continued to find work in sales over the years. He joined the team at KRL Enterprise Inc in 2017 where Ken and his family became close friends as well. Darcy then pursued a career with Century 21 Westman Realty in which he found himself once again enjoying sales. Besides Real Estate he was also recently employed with Boss Lubricants as an Industrial Account Representative where he was very proud of his sales achievements. However, work was only a small fraction of Darcy's life in comparison to his family.

He had three beautiful children, his beloved daughter Erin, Ryan and Lesli. The lights of his life. He was a man who no matter how "crazy busy" life could be, they were his priority. He volunteered and participated in all he could and was highly involved in their lives as much as possible. Many years were spent at the lake with the kids and his Mom and Dad. He was a man who made moments count, whether that was through fishing, riding bikes, playing cards or just teaching us how to live life. He did it all. When life took a turn for his family, Darcy did anything but step down. He was a man of resilience, a rock and an anchor to each member.

In Darcy’s later years, his hobbies evolved golfing, traveling to hot destinations, boating and side by side touring. He loved nothing better than spending time at the lake with his spouse Sheila along with family and friends – hat on and beverage in hand, especially on the pontoon boat. Darcy was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed the Legion meat draws and Wednesday Crib League.

Darcy was extremely hard working and caring beyond measure. His humor was unmatched, one of his greatest abilities was to make people laugh. He was incredibly goofy in the best ways. Most times he managed this by making fun of himself!

Darcy was a "more amazing" spouse, a loving and deeply dedicated father and The Best Papa. He was an incredible brother, "favorite" uncle and an extraordinary friend to all who were lucky enough to know him.  Darcy had such charisma that enabled him to meet people easily which left a lasting impact. Once you met him, you could never forget his witty charm and funny antics. Many friendships in his life stemmed from this ability.

Darcy had just recently moved from Brandon to Ninette with his soul mate Sheila after building their new “dream home” on Pelican Lake where they had planned to eventually retire surrounded by close family and friends.

Darcy was predeceased by his dearest daughter, Erin and parents, John and Jean.  He will forever be remembered and terribly missed by his spouse, Sheila Cooper, his son, Ryan and daughter, Lesli (Avery), his two grandchildren that he adored, Alleah and Frankie, his brothers, Dale (Laverne), Rick, Randy (Grace), his sisters, Darlyn (Ian) and Cindy (Greg), sisters-in-law Jo-Anne Lenton (Kendall) & Melanie Lenton (Dennis), brother-in-law Jamie Zinck (Ashley), along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family & friends.

Darcy's passing reminds us all how important it is to laugh, enjoy life, stay connected with family and friends and to live each day to the fullest. You can't add years to your life but you can add moments... Darcy was a man of moments. Darcy's greatest legacy will be his love, which now shines through each person Darcy loved dearly. He will remain in our hearts forever.
