Dwight Norman Hazen
July 2, 1958 ~ February 9, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dwight Norman Hazen at Deloraine Hospital on February 9, 2026 after a brief battle with a cancerous brain tumor.
Dwight was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on July 2nd, 1958. He was the 7th of 8 children born to Theodore Hazen, born in Sylvan Lake, AB and Dorothy Hazen, born in Hamilton, ON.
Dwight had a natural ability for all things mechanical and worked at various jobs throughout Albertain this field over this lifetime. He felt that family was very important and he was a loving husband, brother, dad, grandpa, uncle, great-uncle and friend. He loved to host and prepare family dinner and made the best homemade chocolate birthday cake.
In 2005, while working as a millwright at Clemro Industries in Calgary, he met the love of his life and best friend Janet, who was at his side when he passed. They soon moved to Yahk, BC where Dwight had a tire/auto repair shop and for a short time the best pizza restaurant. They spent 10 years together in Yahk where Dwight enjoyed quad rides, sledding, boating and spending time with family and friends. In 2015 they moved to Cranbrook where they lived for another 10 years. Dwight gave up the quad rides for motorcycle rides to visit buddies on Vancouver Island and he enjoyed trips to Alberta and doing his Kimberley loop. While in Cranbrook he realized he also had a natural talent for and enjoyed renovating homes. Then, before retiring, he took a job at Fort Steele Heritage Town. He loved working there and made some lifelong friends while he was there. In 2025 Dwight and Janet made the decision to sell their home in Cranbrook, retire and move to Deloraine, Manitoba. They purchased their new home and arrived in Manitoba on December 14th, 2025. Unfortunately, their retirement together was very short and was not what they had planned but they were happy to be together.
Dwight was predeceased by his mother and father, his brothers Joe, Ted and Eric, his sister Iva, his niece Sherri, his great-niece Kira, mother-in-law Lorraine and sister-in-law Cathy.
He leaves to mourn his wife Janet, his brother John, his sisters Vera and Eva, his children Ashley (Dave), Scott (Erin), Crystal, Brandi, Cheyenne and JJ as well as his grandchildren Mila, Ryder, Ayden, Preston, Landon, Vayda, Nikoli, Declan, Oscar and Dillon. He also will be missed by many nieces, nephews and his brothers-in-law Reay (Corry), Fred (Attiya), Sheldon and sister-in-law Joan (Ron). He will be greatly missed by his 2 best buddies Cam and Rob who he loved like brothers.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Deloraine, MB in the spring/summer.
