Beth McCannell
October 29, 1934 to April 11,2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of mom Beth on April 11,2024 in Boundary Trails Hospital.
Eleanor BETH Hunter was born in the RM of Pembina October 29, 1934.  She started her first year of school in Darlingford.  Later the family moved to LaRiviere and then on to Pilot Mound, where she met our dad Lorne.  They were married April 9,1953 and celebrated 64 years of marriage before Dad died.
Mom worked in a grocery store and then became a farmer.  They raised pigs and chickens but mostly cattle.  She spent many hours fencing, mixing feed, baling, and feeding animals. She also had a large garden and processed a lot of food for their family.
Mom had many fond memories of golfing and curling with friends in the area. She enjoyed being a Kinette and teaching 4-H. She welcomed friends, relatives, and neighbors whenever they would drop in and spent many evenings playing cards. She enjoyed music and had an amazing memory for words of songs and poetry.
Mom and Dad spent many years travelling to warmer climates.  They started going to Texas but moved to Yuma Arizona where they kept a place for 35 years.
Mom will be greatly missed by her children, Don (Susan), Sharon, Lori (Gary Willcocks) and daughter in law Yolande.  She kept in touch with her surviving grandchildren by text and email but loved seeing Chris, Deanna, Ainslee, Hayley, Landon, Sheri, Jeff, Brad, Loryn, Pamela and Adam as often as possible.  She had 18 great grandchildren. She is survived by sister Marlene and brother Murray and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Lorne, son Michael, and grandson Jeffrey, brothers Elmer, Fraser, Ivan and sisters Gladys Legary, Reta Young, Georgina Thody, and Loretta Henderson.
Mom will be interned at the Pilot Mound Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Morden Friendship Centre 4pm May 11, 2024. Please feel free to dress casually, and we invite you to share memories or stories of mom.
