Esther (Friesen) Lawson was born on January 4, 1925 in Munich, North Dakota to the parents Cornelius and Sarah (Thiessen) Friesen.  Esther was to attend school in her small birth town and in the city of Alsen, only a hop, skip and a jump away.  Esther was to help the progress of the family farm until 1956 when she moved to Grand Forks where she would venture into becoming a drapery seamstress.  In 1968 she was married to the love of her life, Stanley Lawson on the twelfth day of the tenth month.  It was decided that she would immigrate to Canada and return to the farm life.

Esther and Stanley where to work hard, live, love and enjoy the southern country side until retiring to Killarney in 1990.  After several years of Esther’s caregiving, Stanley passed away in 2002.

Esther always enjoyed life whether on a farm or in town.  She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where many would enjoy watching her dramas, and short skits.  Amongst her love of writing dramas and poetry she would also busy her days gardening, quilting and cross stitching for her nieces and nephews, sewing relief blankets for MCC distributions.  She would also spend a great amount of time down at the Turtle Mountain Fly Wheel Club, working hard, even after retirement.

Esther’s love for her family and friends would keep her prayers full and her moments with God frequent, especially in her final years.  The personal connections she made with the staff and volunteers at Tri-lake Health Centre gave her an appreciated sense of purpose.

Esther is predeceased by her husband, Stanley, parents, Cornelius and Sarah, brothers, Isaac and Abe (Emma), Parents-in-law, Robert and Dorothy, Brothers-in-law, Ivan (Lillian) and Dan, nephews Bob and Terry.

Esther leaves behind her niece Myrna (Carrol) and family, nephew Stan and family, and nephew Brad (Jodie) and family, sister-in-law Rose, Stanley’s 8 nieces and nephews and their families, as well her Baptist Church family.
