Jean Lovell passed away peacefully at Pembina Manitou Health Centre on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the age of 87.
Jean was born in Snowflake, Manitoba on August 20, 1934 to Albert and Elyda Booker, the second eldest in a family of three girls. Jean grew up on the farm east of Darlingford and attended school there with her sisters Doreen and Reita. Many happy memories were made in those days which included family gatherings on the farm with many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as holidays in Winnipeg with her maternal grandparents Dave and Edith Brown.
In 1951 Jean finished school and moved to Manitou working as a teller at the Royal Bank where many lifelong friendships were made.  In 1955 she married Allan Lovell and raised a family of four children Jack, Brian, Brenda and Lori. During those years she worked in her husband’s lighting business managing the bookkeeping and the office. In later years she worked for Canada Post and provided homecare for seniors in Manitou.
Jean had a sunny disposition and made friends easily wherever she went. Her kind and gentle nature endeared her to many people that she encountered over the years, both near and far. Jean enjoyed many interests and hobbies throughout her life including baking, gardening, paper tole, music and dancing, country drives, Canadian politics and current events,  but most of all,  she enjoyed being in the company of her family.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Allan in 2002, her son Jack in 2019, and infant daughter Kelly in 1966.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses Brian, Brenda (Raymond) and Lori (John), two sisters Doreen Hemminger and Reita Thomson, three grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
According to Jean’s wishes a private family graveside service will be held on Friday, September 3rd, 2021  at the Manitou cemetery. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Pembina Manitou Health Centre Palliative Care, Box 129,  Manitou, Manitoba R0G 1G0 or to the Pembina Manitou Health Centre, Box 129, Manitou, Manitoba, R0G 1G0.
