Lois Evelyn Holditch (nee Raine) was born March 23, 1931, to Martha and Wilfred Raine, the fifth in a
family of seven, 4 boys and 3 girls. Lois grew up on a dairy farm 1⁄2 mile south of Boissevain and attended
school in Boissevain. In March of 1946 Lois left school and moved with the family to a farm 16 miles NW
of Boissevain. She became housekeeper, cook for six and nurse (as her mother was completely
bedridden by that time).
Life went on and one by one her brothers left home so during the winters of 1952-53 and 1953-54 Lois
went to Saskatoon to attend Bethel Bible Institute; she graduated with honors in April 1954. She
returned home to help care for her mother. That summer her parents moved to Boissevain, so she
moved with them. That fall she met Lawrence (Laurie) Holditch and the following year on Oct 1, 1955,
they married and moved onto the farm Laurie was born on.
In August 1956, their first child Linda Ruth was born, but she had Cystic fibrosis, and she only lived for 8
1⁄2 months. Their second daughter Joanne Susan was born 5 months after Linda Ruth passed away.
Praise the Lord, she did not have CF! Two years later November 12, 1959, their son Gordon Reginald was
born also free of CF! On July 13, 1962, Marth Jane was born with CF. Because of this, on July 15 she
needed surgery, or she would not have survived - she lived for 23 years. She graduated from Grade 12
in 1982. She worked for Wawanesa Life Insurance Company in Wawanesa for a few months until
because of secondhand smoke she had to leave her job. She went to be with the Lord, September 7,
1985. Laurie and Lois farmed until 1977. On October 31st, 1978, they moved to Boissevain into the house they
had built on N. Railway. During the next 26 years they made their yard a place of beauty. Laurie passed
away August 7, 2005. Lois stayed in the house for a few years after Laurie died. In March 2000 she
moved into Crocus Hill Estates where she enjoyed life very much. In August of 2021 she moved to
Cherry Creek for some additional care and in March of 2024 she moved to Westview Lodge – where she
received amazing care. The family was so very appreciative of the love and care she received at
Westview. She passed on September 12, 2025, after looking forward to her reunion with her husband
and daughters for many years.
She is survived by daughter, Joanne Wiley (Bryan) granddaughter, Tamara and great grandchildren
Natalie-Jo, Londyn, Jack and Ginger. Also survived by son, Gordon (Debbie) grandchildren, Stewart
(Aimee) great grandson Jaydee, and Karlee (Graham) and great grandsons Grady and Archer.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered always.
