Margaret passed away at Boissevain Health Centre on August 7th, 2024 with family by her side at the age of 82. She was born on August 17th, 1941 at the Boissevain Health Centre to Fred and Rachel Coupland and was the third of four children. Margaret attended School at both Margaret and Minto while growing up at a farm east of Minto on highway 23.

Margaret and Merrill got married on November 25th, 1961 on the farm Margaret grew up on. They had known each other for years as they both grew up in the community. Right before they got married they bought the Dr. Walter Riddell farm NE 6-5-19 in the fall of 1961 where they had lived for 63 beautiful years. During those years they started and raised a family, first was Derrick, then Karen, and finally Penny.

Margaret was an avid gardener, she had 3 gardens and did freezing and canning, she spent endless hours working outside and helping dad with the farm. She also loved to keep the house clean as well as baking and cooking for the whole family. She always made everyone their favourite treat like sugar cookies, pumpkin pie, Christmas candy, broken glass, her famous butt crack buns and holiday slush. She had a very big soft spot for animals whether they were her own or her kids.

Our biggest memory of her was that she would always be more concerned about her family than herself. Her endearing support and helpfulness is something we all strive to have. She was the most loving, giving and talented person and we hope we showed her how special she made us all feel.

Some more wonderful memories we have of her include beanie babies, homemade Halloween costumes, car peppermints, going to the Winter Fair (she was very adamant that the grandkids could pick out anything to take home with them), playing sequence with the family, her little collections of snow globes, grabbing at sleeping persons toes, and her warm hugs.

She loved her kids and grandkids with never ending support, she took the time to visit, to call, attend events, help at the shop, and she would always be there to look after the grandkids at the drop of a hat. Margaret was the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Anyone who knew her was lucky to have met her. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. We love you.

Margaret is survived by her husband Merrill, son Derrick (Vicky) Schreiner, daughter Karen (Barry) Bernard and daughter Penny (Daryl) Jones, grandchildren Justin (Ryanne) Schreiner, Paige (Dylan) Schreiner, Chelsea (Cory) Barwick, Landon (Jen) Bernard, Braeden Bernard, Brittany (Tyler) Jones, Brett (Taralynn) Jones, great grandchildren Beckham Schreiner, Bryson Bernard, Carly Barwick, Deklyn Bernard, and Lexi Smith.
