Marg was born in Pilot Mound, MB and spent her formative years there with sisters Bonnie and Pat. Upon graduation she moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba where she graduated with a home economics degree and a proficiency in target shooting.  After teaching home economics in Winnipeg her adventurous spirit took her to teach in Inuvik, Northwest Territories.   
 
Marg loved teaching in the North!  After Inuvik, she taught in Fort Smith where she met her future husband, Rus Hall. He was smitten when taking her out to teach her how to shoot he discovered she was a crack shot. 
 
Marg and Rus were married in Fort Smith in 1968 and moved to Yellowknife later that year.  Marg taught foods and sewing at Sir John Franklin High School.   
 
A move took them to Drayton Valley where Marg continued her teaching career but the lure of the north brought them back to Yellowknife. A change of careers had her working as a travel agent for Mack Travel and it wasn’t long before she was the manager.  Living in the North allowed them both time to partake in the northern activities of camping, canoeing, flying, curling, cross country skiing, fishing and snowmobiling. They enjoyed these pursuits with friends. In true northern fashion they formed lifelong friendships. 
 
But Marg knew she wanted more.  She was a businesswoman.  She convinced her sister Pat and a former employee of the travel agency to start an office service business, Office Compliments, that is still operating in Yellowknife today.  Although this was another new career for her. Marg still brought her teaching skills into the business.  She even ensured that her baking skills not be forgotten as she insisted on having home baked goodies for their clients.  Pat and the other partner cringed when it was their turn to bake. 
    
Another change was in the cards, and they moved south to see where the adventures might take them.  Still being young, Marg and Rus decided to start flipping houses in Cranbrook, BC.  They were ahead of their time as there was not even one TV show on the subject.  Marg was the decorator and Rus the heavy lifter.  Marg volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary thrift shop. After 10 years in BC, they then settled in High River Alberta.  
 
In High River Marg continued with her volunteer activities first making quilts for the Hospital Auxiliary to sell in their gift shop and then becoming the president of the Auxiliary.   Marg was also involved in a local quilt guild, Victoria Quilts making quilts for cancer patients, writing quilting patterns and other activities in town. 
 
Marg and Rus took this time to see the world from Africa to the Antarctic. Finally settling on wintering in Arizona. Marg loved her trips with her sisters to London, Las Vegas and wherever there was a curling match.  Going to live theatre was also a pleasure Marg enjoyed.  She was able to travel with friends and family to take part in this passion.   Her favorite show of all time was Cats, but she enjoyed all of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s shows. 
 
Home was Marg’s heart! She enjoyed sewing, baking and hosting you in her house.   Marg published a cookbook with many of her favorite recipes.   
 
Pilot Mound always was home away from home to Marg. Through the years many quilts were sent back to help fund such things as the Millennium Complex. After Rus’s death Marg moved back to be closer to family.  Marg really enjoyed living in Pilot Mound and getting to know the surrounding countryside again. 
  
Marg was always a teacher and in the business and quilting world a mentor to many.  She was kind and always had time for people.  It was always important to Marg that she listen to you.  She had wisdom but only shared it when needed or asked.  We will miss, Doris Domestic, a nickname she was sometimes called, her home-made goodies, her special smile and her love.   
 
 Marg died after a short battle with cancer. 
 
Marg is really missed by her family, sister Bonnie Sutherland; sons Pat (Shelley, Hayley and Kaitlyn), Kirk (Sonya, Quinton and Ethan); sister Pat Moore (Garth) stepchildren Erika (Charlie, Noah, Sophie and Felix) and Ross (Roxane)and many friends. 

Celebration of life will be held on July 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anglican Church in Pilot Mound.  Lunch to follow.
