Mayme Keffen (Outhwaite), 89, passed away February 1, 2024, with her family by her
side.

Mayme, along with her twin brother (Jack), was born to the late Arden and Vivian
Outhwaite, on August 23, 1934, on her family farm north of Stockton, Manitoba.

She married the late Hugh Keffen in 1956, and they lived together in Brandon for two
years before moving to Killarney, Manitoba. Mayme is survived by three children:
Robert (Bianca) of Brandon; Marion (Mario) of Calgary; and Allan (Donna) of
Onanole. She is also survived by her two sisters (Una and June), a brother (Jim),
grandchildren, Jenna, Nicole, Darien, Keira and Brynn as well as one great-
grandchild, Quinn. Mayme was predeceased by her husband in 2013, twin brother
(2015) and her grand-daughter, Courtney, in 2016.

Mayme was raised on a farm and had acquired many skills which included gardening;
preserving and canning a plethora of vegetables and fruits every year. She also loved
to bake and always had pies, bread, cakes etc. on the kitchen counters. In her youth,
Mayme learned to play the accordion and later taught young students. She was also a
4H participant and then served as a 4H leader for many years. In addition, she was a
volunteer with the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. Along with her volunteering, Mayme
worked in the Killarney Post Office for 20+ years.
She was immensely proud of her family, and when asked, said that was her greatest
achievement.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2 p.m., at the
Killarney Wheatland Chapel. Private internment will take place at the Killarney
cemetery. The family requests that people make donations in support of Heart and
Stroke Foundation, in lieu of sending flowers.
