It is with sadness that the family of Mildred Henderson announces her passing on January 28th, 2024 at the age of 102 years.
Mildred Olive was born January 15th, 1922 at Pilot Mound Mb. to Archie and Olive Kester; the youngest of three children. Her brother Bill, sister Dorothy, and herself were raised on the family farm in the Floral district near Pilot Mound. After completing high school, Mom followed her sister in choosing a career in teaching.
She married William Henderson Jr. December 11th, 1954. They made their home in Crystal City Mb. where they raised their two daughters.
After retiring from teaching in 1976, Mom developed a love of travelling. But music was always her true passion. Beautiful piano music filled our home throughout our childhood. Her wonderful gift has become a treasured memory.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Archie and Olive, brother Bill, sister Dorothy, her husband Bill in 1999, and her great granddaughter Malia in 2016
She is survived by her daughters Donna (Rick Hurst), Myrna (Greg Agerbak), grandchildren Jennifer (Dan Berg), Derek (Cheryl Harris), Lyndsay (Chris Lenderbeck), Erin (Rob Boiteau), and great grandchildren Makayla, Calli, Hayden, Liam and Lukas, and many nieces and nephews.
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go
For this is the road we all must take
And each must go alone
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
A step on the journey home
When you are sad and feel all alone
Go to the friends you know
And bury your grief in doing good deeds
Miss me, but let me go
