Murray Mosset
July 25, 1944 - March 10, 2025
It is great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Murray Mosset on March 10, 2025, at Melita Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family.
Murray is deeply missed by his partner, Karen Turner; his children, Valerie (Ron), Michelle, Patrick, and Rodney (Jocelyn); and his grandchildren. He also shared a special bond with Karen’s family—Darren, Scott (Stacy), Ryan (Stacie), and Chelsey (Chris)—and their children. He is survived by his siblings, Norman (Elva), Margaret, Evelyn (Jack), Sharon (Vern), and Bob (Linda); his sister-in-law, Karen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Darlene; his brother, Alvin; and his brother-in-law, Peter Hofer.
Born on July 25, 1944, in Deloraine, Murray was the eldest son of Remi and Leona Mosset. He attended Princess, Minolta, and Bruxelles Convent schools before leaving at a young age to work on the family farm. He later became a key part of the family business, Mosset Seeds. Throughout his life, Murray was known for his strong work ethic and many talents. He became skilled in plumbing, welding, wiring, construction, sales, and driving—there was little he couldn’t do.
After retiring from farming and business, Murray met Karen and embraced a love of travel, especially in his motorhome, which he enjoyed right up until November 2024. Together, they spent many winters in California and Texas, and their travels took them on many memorable trips, including a European river cruise and a visit to his Uncle Albert in Belgium.
Family was at the heart of Murray’s life. He never missed a gathering if he could help it and would drive any distance to be there. He loved talking with younger generations and often reminded them, “You are going to have to work hard in this world today.”
In November 2020, Murray was diagnosed with cancer. In July 2022, he made the decision to move to Melita to be closer to family. Throughout his illness, he remained hopeful, determined, and positive. Murray’s legacy will live on through the stories he told, the wisdom he shared, and the many lives he touched. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Murray. You meant the world to us.
A funeral service was held on Monday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Antoninus Roman Catholic Church in Deloraine.
