Peter Schmidt wurde am 16. Oktober 1952 in Korkino, Tscheljabinsk Gebiet in Russland geboren. Er war das zweite der fünf Kinder seiner Eltern, Friedrich und Katharina Schmidt.
In einer gläubigen Familie genoss er die sorglose Kindheit. Im April 1964 zog die Familie nach Schetissai im Süden Kasachstans, wo er mit den Eltern die Versammlungen der Ortsgemeinde besuchte und später auch die Jugendstunden. Am 12. Mai 1968 durfte er sich bekehren, am 2. August 1970 ließ er sich taufen und wurde zu der Ortsgemeinde hinzugetan.
Am 18. August 1974 heiratete er Tina Hermann. Der Herr schenkte ihnen neun Kinder, von welchen eines schon in der Ewigkeit ist.
Im April 1988 zog die Familie nach Deutschland, wo Peter und Tina sich der Ortsgemeinde Espelkamp anschlossen. Später im Mai 1991 schlossen sie sich der Gemeinde in Lübbecke an, wo sie auch wohnten. Hier dienten sie dem Herrn mit ihren Gaben. Am 16. September 2001 wurde er in der Gemeinde Lübbecke als Diakon eingesegnet und tat seinen Dienst bis die Familie am 15. Oktober 2009 umzog nach Cartwright, Kanada.
Am 20. Dezember 2009 gründete der Herr eine Gemeinde in Cartwright, wo Peter gebeten wurde sie anzuleiten. Am 11. September 2011 wurde er in der Gemeinde Cartwright als Leitender eingesegnet.
Im Jahr 2013 erkrankte Peter an Leukämie und die Krankheit nahm zu, sodass er die Leitung am 30. April 2017 abgab. Die Beschwerden nahmen immer mehr zu. Das letzte Mal predigte er am 15. Oktober 2017, das letzte Mal im Gottesdienst war er am 11. Februar 2018. Seit dem 6. April 2018 konnte er das Krankenbett nicht mehr verlassen.
Am 16. April 2018 hat der Herr Peters Bitte erfüllt und ihn im Alter von 65 Jahren und auf den Tag genau 6 Monaten heimgeholt. Er hat überwunden durch des Lammes Blut und schaut was er geglaubt hat.
Er hinterlässt seine Ehefrau Tina, acht Kinder, fünf angeheiratete Kinder und fünfzehn Enkelkinder.

     Peter Schmidt was born on the 16th of October, 1952 in Korkino in the Chelyabinsk region in Russia. He was the second child of five born to Friedrich and Katharina Schmidt.

     Peter grew up in a christian home and enjoyed a carefree childhood. In April 1964 his family moved to Zhetisay (Schetissai) in the south of Kazakhstan. Here, Peter and his family visited the services of the local congregation and Peter also attended their youth group services. On May 12th, 1968 he accepted God's grace and gave his life to Jesus. Peter was baptized on August 2nd, 1970 and became a member of the local congregation.

     On the 18th of August, 1974 he married Tina Hermann. God gave them nine children, one of whom is already with the Lord.

     In April 1988 Peter and his family moved to Germany, where Peter and his wife Tina became members of the congregation in the town of Espelkamp. Three years later in May of 1991, they changed over to the congregation of L​übbecke, where they lived. Here they served the Lord with the gifts and talents God had given them. On September 16th in 2001 Peter was ordained a deacon in the congregation of Lübbecke. He served as a deacon until they moved to Cartwright, Manitoba, Canada on the 15th of October in 2009.  

     On December 20th, 2009 God made it possible to have a German congregation founded in Cartwright, for which Peter was asked to take over leadership and guidance. On September 11th, 2011 he was ordained the minister of the congregation in Cartwright.

     In the year of 2013, Peter was diagnosed with Leukemia. His health deteriorated, so much, that by April 30th, 2017 he handed over the ministry to someone else. His suffering and illness got worse and worse. The last time he preached a sermon was on 15th of October 2017, his last attendance at a church service was on February 11th, 2018. Since April 6th, 2018 he hadn’t been able to leave his sickbed anymore.

     On April 16th, 2018 the Lord fulfilled Peter’s wish and took him home at the age of 65 years and exactly 6 months. Peter has overcome through the blood of the Lamb, he now sees what he had believed in.  

     Peter left behind his wife Tina, eight children, five children-in-law and fifteen grandchildren.
