Phyllis Elliott Morrison passed away peacefully at the Hartney Community Health Centre May 16, 2018 surrounded by family. Phyllis was born July 26, 1928 in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan to Harry and Mary Shaw (Elliott). She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Gainsborough. She loved to ride horse back and attend dances in the rink with her friends. On April 23, 1947 she married John Lewis Morrison. They operated restaurants in Elgin and Hartney from 1949-October 1955. In 1955 John began his career in the Insurance business and a few years later Phyllis obtained her General Insurance Licence and joined the business. Phyllis was a member of the United Church and UCW. She participated in many sports during her lifetime, but especially enjoyed Curling, Fastball, and Figure Skating. She also loved to play cards, read, and spent many hours doing crossword puzzles. Phyllis and John spent countless hours around rinks and ball diamonds following their children and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Lewis, John, Donald (Phyllis), Gloria (Murray) McMillan, Greg (Wilma), and Tim (Carol) as well as nineteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Harry and Mary Shaw, her husband John L. Morrison, brother Jim Shaw, Sisters, Betty Taylor and Kathleen Trimble, brothers-in-law, Bill Taylor, Hiram Trimble, Henry Morrison, Don Morrison, Ken Coates and Bill Newman, sisters-in-law, Eloise Shaw, Ruth Morrison, Mary Morrison, Wilma Coates and Myra Newman, and daughter-in-law Betty Morrison.
