Bob Ireland  1926 -2020. We say goodbye to Robert G Ireland of Cartwright who passed into peace on October 17 2020. Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Velma, sisters Caroline and Frances in B.C, brother Hank of Oakville Mb. Bob’s children - Robert, Vernon and Barbara of Ontario, Angela, Cindy, Barb, Bobby, Albert (Sandy), Wayne, Patrick and Ronda (Mike). He was predeceased by father Willard & mother Agnes,  brothers Gary and Vernon, sisters Phoebe, Dorothy, June, son Michael and grandson Jason. Bob leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren,  great great grands and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob farmed in Holmfield and worked with Bernie Langan as a carpenter for many years then Ecusta Fiber before retirement. Bob and Velma moved to Cartwright to learn the fine art of rest and relaxation with no critters to feed, no stalls to muck out and no bales to chuck. He loved his horses and still enjoyed the annual hunting with family and friends until his legs prevented him from pushing any more bushes.
Life slowed down and he enjoyed his recliner, favorite t.v. shows and being pampered by Velma. He took up circle word puzzles and cribbage games, adult colouring books and reading the local paper until his eyesight betrayed him at that too. He stayed in his home until he turned 94 yrs old and it was no longer safe for Velma to care for him. He spent a couple short weeks at Davidson Memorial Personal Care Home where he passed into slumber and his final rest.
As per his wishes there will be no service but a later life celebration can take place.
As many will remember him as “Grasshopper” we send him off to his reunion of passed family and friends alike.
