It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother Gail Strain on July 8, 2024, at Boissevain Health Center. Gail
was born on September 15, 1944, to Mary and Delymer Johnston. Growing up in Crandall, MB
with siblings Mayme, and Bernice, she spent her childhood with her sisters and friends nearby.
On March 25, 1961, Mom married the love of her life, Dad, Ivan Strain. Together they welcomed three children, Debby (Jim) child Justin (Karlee) Jamie (Dawson), Darcy (Sherri) child Ethan (Shannon) Mathew (Kennedy),Spud (Sharon) child Dillon (Stefanie) children Asher, Kole, child Cody(Taylor) Ashton and Madison (Carter)
They raised their family in Boissevain the community they called home. Mom enjoyed dancing, baking, camping and fishing. Mom could be seen at many sporting events (Figure Skating, Hockey, Football, Softball, Baseball and Horse Competitions) cheering on her family.
The Royal Bank was near and dear to Mom’s heart where she held the position of Stenographer and confidant for the Manager, she retired after 25 years of service on April 1, 2000. Mom was a member of the United Church, UCT, Lionelles, Ducks Unlimited, and a participant in many community events. An avid horse lover Mom spent many hours helping and watching her children and grandchildren participate at Horse shows across Canada and the USA.
Mom's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She took great delight in sharing photos of every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visiting with Grandma were always a highlight for the grandchildren. Grandma shared almost everything, especially her advice on how to bake cookies!
