After a hard battle with cancer, It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father , poppa and friend Ron Minne
Ronald Maurice Minne was born July 2, 1961 to Maurice and Mary Minne in Deloraine Manitoba.
Ron grew up on the family farm on McKinney Road in the Turtle Mountains.
In July 1978, he met the love of his life Dawn Dobroski. They were married on June 12, 1982. They lived 2 years in Souris, 13 years in Boissevain and moved to Waskada in 1996.
Ron loved operating equipment, from trenchers to backhoes to caterpillars.
Evident when , as a young boy, he took the bucket tractor and built a swimming hole at the farm
Ron thrilled for speed with snowmobiles, cars, planes
He spent hours taking the kids tubing at Hasselfield Lake.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was able to.
After his farming accident in 1991, he became active with Farmers With Disabilites, for 20 years, attending many Safety Day camps at schools and Ag Days to deliver the message of safety on the farm around equipment but also in our daily lives.
He was passionate about the Waskada Fire Dept which he was a member of for 26 years. He was so proud of the new fire truck that the dept acquired in 2012.
He was a member of the Waskada Lions club for 28 years.
Ron played guitar and after his accident through perseverance he learned to play the mandolin. Dawn learned to play the ukulele and they shared their music with many seniors in lodges and care homes and jam sessions.
He even learned to curl with a stick so he could join Dawn on the curling ice, encouraging others to do so that felt their curling days were over.
He loved attending car shows with ‘Lenard’, his 1967 Chev half ton. Drive like hell, you’ll get there faster.
Ron’s memory will live on with his wife of 43 years, Dawn, daughters Marlys (Carson) Spence, Tenille (Moe) Saltel and son Tyson ( friend Jenna) and his grandchildren Joey, Jase, Finnegan, Tessa, Oscar, Elliette and Wyatt, his sister Chris (Bob) Declercq, mother-in-law Mary Dobroski, sister -in-laws Cheryl (Jerry) Redden, Janice Dobroski plus nieces and nephews and the many friends and acquaintances he made over his life.
"This is not goodbye, it is just see you later."
