Ursula May Lowdon passed away peacefully at her home, Delwynda Court with family at her side.  She was born on May 7, 1929 on a farm near Medora, Manitoba to parents, Hugh and May Robinson.  Her parents set sail to Canada the day after their wedding to start a new life.    Her dad was a World War I veteran and prisoner of war.  Growing up in a big family in a tiny house with a wood stove, she had many stories to share including walking to Sherwood school and a dug-out a few miles away to skate and riding in the back of a neighbour’s truck for a Legion event in Killarney.   Besides helping at home, she worked for various people in the district. On October 24, 1953 she married Alfred Lowdon of Goodlands, a second World War veteran.  Ursula was a dedicated farm wife and mother to three daughters, Lynn, Wendy and Ann whom she drove to Montefiore school.  In January 1981 they moved to Waskada on the same street as former Montefiore neighbours and friends.   After Alf’s passing in 1990, Ursula moved to Deloraine in 2002 to be closer to her daughters.  Ursula and Alf enjoyed square dancing, fishing, family get-togethers and cherished the many friendships made over the years.  She especially enjoyed 2 trips to England with different family members and visits with family there.  She was a 4-H member and leader, a member of the Legion Auxiliary and United Church Women.  She grew large vegetable gardens and pretty flower beds.  Always home cooked meals, afternoon lunches to Dad in the field, pies, homemade “Lowdon” buns, Christmas puddings, cake, and gingerbread men (called “Man” cookies by a granddaughter) for the kids at Christmas.  She sewed bridesmaids and Graduation dresses, quilts, knitted, crocheted and other crafts.  All this and more were evidence of her love for her family.
Ursula is dearly missed by her daughter, Lynn, Rob (Mariam) Richard, Rick (Candice) Richard, Rae-Lynn (Paul) Hacker, Rolly (Robyn) Richard and their families, daughter, Wendy (Grant) Maddess, Sharlene (Adam) McGregor, Ainslee & Kaden, Darren (Robyn) Maddess, Teagan & Ethan, daughter, Ann (Gary) Kempthorne, Richard & Andrew, brothers Fred & Bill Robinson, sister, Dorothy Martin, sisters-in-law, Lois & Mary Lowdon, many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Lowdon, parents Hugh & May Robinson, son-in-law, Herb Richard, grandson Raymond Richard, sisters, Phyllis Robinson & Lil Brice, Brothers Gerald, Jim & John Robinson, sisters & brothers-in-law, Vi, Jean & Ruth Robinson, Harry Martin, Tom (Margaret), John (Kay), Bob, Les (Betty), Ken (Doris), Bill, Ed (Jean) Lowdon, Rae (Ted) & Belle (Gordon) Kitchen & several nieces and nephews.
