Vernon Gilson was born October 3, 1927 in the family home. He was the youngest son of Horace and Hazel Gilson. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Grenville, Elmer, and Lyle.
He was the loving husband to mom, Ruth, for 64 years and the best dad/grandpa/great grandpa to: Charlie (Susan); Anthony, Laura (Jase), Penny (Dana); Hayley (Steve), Nora, Mia & Bo; Tyler (Brittney) & Everley; Mary Lou (Terry); Jamie (Laura) & Chelsey.
Vernon’s love was mom, and he made a living farming which he never quit – when his mobility failed, he still insisted on regular crop tours and mom would willingly take him.
In his early years, he loved hunting, and also camping and fishing with mom. He also loved his visits with their many friends. He and Mom are blessed to have some very special ones! Dad always said it would be a very sad day when people stopped coming up their driveway.
We wish to extend a very special thank you to the ambulance drivers who drove dad to Boissevain Hospital; To Dr. Nell and the nursing staff in Boissevain; To Dr. McKinnon and Mr. Mobin and all the wonderful nursing staff in Deloraine. Your care and compassion for dad during his last days was second to none!!
